What Makes Superlite Boots So Great?

It’s in the design. All SUPERLITE® boots are designed around the foot, to support the foot all day, to comfort it in all weathers!
SUPERLITE® boots are 100% waterproof to keep feet warm and dry in tough conditions. Our one-piece injected M.I.-SHELL™ is self-insulating, waterproof, and highly durable and acts as a ‘neutral medium’ between the foot and the elements. Naturally Lightweight, buoyant and very comfortable it is moulded to the shape of the foot caressing the heel and supporting the arch in a natural position.

Inside the boot is crisscrossed with small tunnels 360º around the foot and leg to allow air to circulate around the foot, cooling and preventing a build up of sweat that can leave the wearer with cold feet, this patented AIR-TUNNEL 360º™ technology is covered by a 3 dimensional AIR-LINER™ fabric which draws moisture from the foot and allows air to pass through constantly refreshing and comforting the foot.

The boot is supported by our full length HEXACORE™ patented technology, which stabilizes the foot, to help reduce joint pressure, stops rough ground and sharp stones being felt under foot but also puts a little spring back in your step, by returning some of the energy absorbed when the heel first hits the ground as the toe pushes back off.

The natural rubber TRAIL-GRIP™ outsoles 5mm lug tread assures grip on rough ground as well as wet surfaces. There is even a KICK-SPUR on the heel for easy hands free removal.

How does the M.I.-SHELL™ material compare or rate against other lofted insulations and waterproof membranes?
Lofted insulations are used in work boots and hiking shoes. They are typically laminated to the whole shoe or just the toe area. Lofted insulations absorb water and can hold this water making feet cold. Waterproof membranes have no heat retaining properties and are prone to breakdown over time. The high quality polymer used in SUPERLITE®, M.I.-SHELL™ is both waterproof and self-insulating and is used in high quality camping mats and ski boot linings, providing a comfort range of sub-freezing conditions to 85ºF (29ºC).

Do these boots allow your feet to breath?
One of the most important and revolutionary features of SUPERLITE® footwear is the patented AIR-TUNNEL 360º™ and AIR-LINER™ technologies: the boot is crisscrossed with small tunnels 360º around the foot and leg to allow air to circulate around the foot, cooling and preventing a build up of sweat that can leave the wearer with cold feet, this patented AIR-TUNNEL 360º™ technology is covered by a 3 dimensional AIR-LINER™ fabric which draws moisture from the foot and allows air to pass through constantly refreshing and comforting the foot.

How do you care for and clean SUPERLITE® boots?
The M.I.-SHELL™ is very durable and clean up easily with a spray of water or gentle scrubbing with soap and water. Natural wax or mineral oil can be used to condition the shell.

Can the M.I.Shell™ be repaired if punctured?
The shell can be repaired with sealant found in local hardware stores. We recommend Aqua-Seal.

What is the M.I.-SHELL™ made from?
The M.I.-SHELL™ (Malleable Injected Shell) is made from Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) a polymer that is soft, light and flexible, yet can be injection moulded like other thermoplastics. The material has good barrier properties, low-temperature toughness, stress-crack resistance, waterproof properties and resistance to UV radiation. EVA has little or no odor, is typically used in athletic shoes as a cushioning layer and in high quality sleeping mats as an insulator. The M.I.-SHELL™ is moulded around a natural foot shape, it cups the heel and supports the arch, over a period of weeks the material moulds itself to the individual wearers foot to give a custom fit.

What is HEXACORE™?
HEXACORE™ is a patented technology that works with the foots natural action to support the wearer and reduce fatigue throughout the day. At rest the foot is held in a comfortable position reducing pressure on ankle, knee and hip joints. On the move, it helps to reduce joint pressure, stone penetration on rough ground and puts a little spring back in your step, by returning some of the energy absorbed when the heel first hits the ground as the toe pushes back off.

How are the boots sized?
Standard U.S. whole sizes for men and women (Unisex sizing), but they will stretch to fit half sizes. There is a 15mm toe allowance built into the boots.

Should people wear thick socks?
There is no need unless activities are planned for extreme, cold conditions. The M.I.-SHELL™ is rated subzero during active use and will withstand freezing temperatures for up to one hour. Medium-weight athletic socks should provide the best fit.
